The GAMA picnic is less than a week away– and you have so much to do…. 

1.  Contact a GAMA director to purchase tickets (see page 4).

2.   Print out page 2 of the newsletter and have your kids complete the word search (redeemable for a prize at the picnic).

3.   Get ready to relax and have fun!  J

We are organizing the first ever Austin Malayalee Volleyball Tournament at the annual picnic; so get your six member team and come join the action.

Also this year, we will be collect

ing non-perishable food items  (canned goods, rice bags, pasta, raw beans, etc.) for the Salvation Army.  If you would like to contribute, please bring these items  to the picnic.

UT Malayalam Class Revival

GAMA board is working with UT Austin to understand the challenges facing its Malayalam program.

While it is clear that declining enrollments are a major concern to the sustenance of the program, the school is looking for financial support to address its short term

 needs.

As the local community in Austin, we are engaged and have offered to help out. Though some of the initiatives are still in discussions, UT is planning on outreach events  through various Kerala communities in North America during this academic year. As a

 

fund raising event, there is a proposal to organize a cultural night with talented artists and celebrities from Central Texas region.

More details will follow and we will continue to keep the community posted on the progress. We look forward to your support on this
